What the canopy is actually for

This is the detail that sells the boat, and almost nobody notices it in the listing. Every other sightseeing option here puts you on an open deck or behind a window on a fixed schedule. This one has a canopy and closed weather protection, which means a grey August afternoon — and August is the wettest month here, about 80 millimetres of rain — does not end the trip. You sit at a table, under cover, and still go out on the water.

The rest of the equipment list is short and honest: a certified skipper with first-aid training, life jackets, bottled water, a fridge. It is a small boat run properly rather than a floating restaurant.

The two routes

You choose between the Eastern Archipelago and the City Front, and they have different meeting points, so check yours when you book rather than heading for Market Square out of habit.
